Hip Hip Jorge
Jorge Macchi (IAIR05.2) must rack up a ton of frequent flyer miles.
Since the beginning of 2010, the Argentina-based visual artist has exhibited in New Zealand, Spain, Denmark, Chile, Switzerland, France, and now, Belgium.
“Music Stands Still” opens April 29 at S.M.A.K. in Ghent and runs through September 18.
Macchi’s 2005 Artpace residency presented his first Texas exhibition. However, two years later, Macchi’s solo exhibition “The Anatomy of Melancholy” opened at Austin’s Blanton Museum of Art.
In a recent interview with The Economist, said Macchi, “For me, an artist is someone who is searching for something, even if you don’t know what you are searching for.”
Time will only tell what Macchi’s search uncovers next, but one thing is certain – frequent flier miles are an invaluable resource.
