Artpace advocates the food truck pilot program

The San Antonio City Council gathered this morning for its weekly meeting and had a very important agenda item on the menu that is close to Artpace’s heart: the food truck pilot program.

We started Taco Friday at Artpace in 2009 and the weekly pop-up lunch in our courtyard has been a big hit with the community ever since. Taco Friday allows us to reach out to a whole new audience we might have not captured as walk-ins and passersby. Not only is El Tacomiendo, our Taco Truck-in-Residence, delicious, but what better way to relax, eat good food, and explore some contemporary art?

The Council meeting went well. They approved the pilot program and our own District 1 Councilman Diego Bernal highlighted Artpace as one of the “coolest places downtown.” It’s our hope that the city will go forth and embrace a new generation of local chefs and entrepreneurs who have a lot to offer a city that values its food culture. See you at Taco Friday tomorrow!
