Camp Artpace

It’s summer again, which means it is time for Camp Artpace! This past week, former Artist-in-Residence Katie Pell worked with campers ages 6 to 12 to create art inspired by past and present artists-in-residence and Artpace exhibitions.

Last Wednesday, campers enjoyed a visit to the San Antonio Museum of Modern Art to view the current exhibition “Psychedelic: Optical and Visionary Art since the 1960s.” The exhibit features artwork from five previous artists-in-residence, including Richie Budd, Mark Hogensen, Constance Lowe, Alex Rubio, and Michael Velliquette.

After visiting SAMA, campers began creating artwork inspired by Velliquette’s intricate, multi-layered paper designs. All the campers showed their finished work at a Camp Artpace exhibition Friday afternoon. We were excited to see everything that they have done!
