Congratulations to our upcoming Glasgow-based 11.3 artist-in-residence, Graham Fagen, who will celebrate another knot in his illustrious belt this Friday evening at Timespan Museum and Arts Centre (Timespan), with the opening of his exhibition, Baile An Or. Earlier this year, Fagen participated in the well-known residency at Timespan, located in the scenic Scottish coastline city of Helmsdale. During this time he created a journalistic blog of his experiences and adventures and shot a new film inspired by Helmsdale’s historically gold-rich land. Additionally, in his tradition to further the investigation of location and it’s relationship and effect on it’s people, Fagen invited the local community of Helmsdale to create individual films that, together with his assistance, would be screened aside his, as the ultimate result of his Timespan residency.
We are looking forward to adding Fagen to our roster of renowned contemporary artists this September for his Artpace Residency (September 20 – November 21) and plan to raise a shot of tequila to welcome him, and his fellow residents (Jeff Williams of Houston and Frank Benson of New York), into the Artpace family.
Baile An Or opens at Timespan with a public reception on August 12, 2011 from 7:00PM – 9:00PM and will be on exhibit from August 13 – October 2, 2011. Timespan is located on Dunrobin Street, Helmsdale, KW8 6JA.
Visit Artpace to check out Fagen’s work in the New Works 11.3 exhibition opening on November 17, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:30PM and exhibiting through January 8, 2012.
