Our excitement over the 11.3 International Artists-in-Residence arriving next week has brought our attention to the latest achievement of our upcoming Scottish artist, Graham Fagen.
Fagen’s new video installation, Missing, commissioned by the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, debuts tomorrow evening, Friday, September 17 at Glasgow’s Tramway Gallery. Missing was created to be first exhibited in conjunction with performances of The Missing, a new play directed by John Tiffany and commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland. Both Missing and The Missing creep into the uncomfortable and personal portions of the collective memory of those who have disappeared. If you cannot catch Missing‘s run at Tramway (it is on view through Sunday, October 2), you can see it at the newly re-opened Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburg late this November.
If you would like to meet Fagen in person, mark your calendar for 2011’s final Community Potluck Dinner at Artpace on September 29 from 6–8:30pm, where he and fellow residents Frank Benson and Jeff Williams will speak about their work over a dinner brought and shared by you!
