MoMA acquires Marclay’s The Clock

It’s likely no other work has been referenced more on this blog than Artpace alum (IAIR 99.4) Christian Marclay’s The Clock.

The 24-hour video montage was honored with the Golden Lion at this summer’s 54th Venice Biennale.

But it gets better.

New York’s Museum of Modern Art has acquired The Clock, according to GalleristNY.

“With his magnum opus The Clock, Marclay highlights the virtuosity of sampling and remixing as contemporary methods that underline the importance of editing as a highly creative process,” Sabine Breitwieser, chief curator of media and performance at MoMA, said in a statement.

All six editions of The Clock have now been sold or are currently in the contracting process.
