Six more weeks of winter, but don’t despair

Although Punxsutawney Phil didn’t bring good news this morning to those wishing for the end of winter, we’re embracing the cold weather (well okay, truth be told it’s in the 70s in San Antonio) and kicking off our 12.1 IAIR residency with a soup-themed Community Potluck. Bring your favorite soup or soup accompaniment (oyster crackers, cornbread, shredded cheese) tonight to Artpace at 6pm and welcome our new resident artists: Adam Pendleton (Germantown, New York), James Sham (Houston, Texas), and Florian Slotawa (Berlin, Germany).

Looking for an easy soup recipe for tonight? May I suggest turning to The New York Times’ “Minimalist” Mark Bittman for advice. After all, he’s the king of keeping it simple with tasty results, and can show you some quick tips for adding your own flair to basic soup stock.

Mary Heathcott
Surely you’ve seen Deputy Director Mary Heathcott around Artpace, as she’s been a regular fixture for more than six years (only Riley has her beat). A native Texan, she adopted the Midwest in the early ’00s as her home, but returned to San Antonio after getting a Master’s degree at the University of Chicago and cutting her teeth in the museum world at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. A self-proclaimed sandwich connoisseur, she recommends you order the Torta El Tacomiendo the next time you join us for Taco Friday.
