Stuff the Bus

What do you get when you combine a great cause, local non-profits, and one really energetic, life-sized grocery bag?

On Friday, August 5, Artpace joined Chalk It Up 2011 sponsor H-E-B in support of their Stuff the Bus kick-off event. Several local non-profits were on hand to add to the festivities, supporting one of Artpace’s favorite collaborators, Communities In Schools San Antonio (CIS-SA). H-E-Buddy was so excited that he gave the crowd one mighty fine planking pose. As H-E-B customers piled their donations of back-to-school supplies for CIS-SA into the bus, Artpace Education Curator Alex Freeman, Interim Managing Director Mary Heathcott, Assistant Curator of Education Kaela Hoskings, Grants and Corporate Relations Coordinator Marjory Newman, and Associate Educator Ernesto Olivo “talked chalk.” Chalk It Up 2011 takes over downtown Houston Street on Saturday, October 8, from 10am–4pm, and we can’t wait to see you there!

Planking looks kinda scary, like something wrong may have just happened.
    Oh, San Antonio…
Say, what ever happened to Buster the VIA bus mascot? Remember him?
