Teresita Fernández becomes first John Hardy Resident

The launch of the John Hardy Residency Program was announced in Hong Kong on Wednesday night. Teresita Fernández, former Artpace resident (IAIR 98.4) and current Board of Directors member, was selected as the first artist to participate in the four-week program that commences in August.

Situated in Ubud, a town on the island of Bali, the John Hardy Artist Residency Program is 100-percent sustainable. John Hardy, founder of the respected jewelry company bearing his name, is known for his dedication to green causes. For example, the Bali-based John Hardy workshop, Kapal Bamboo, is constructed of solely bamboo and alang-alang grass. In 2008, Hardy opened the Green School, an off-the-grid  English-based school that teaches its students “how to build, garden, create (and get into college).”

Congratulations, Teresita!
