About the exhibition

Untitled (Sigil for Wealth and Prosperity) (2010) depicts an abstract symbol traditionally used for magical purposes. An enlarged version of the sigil was on view in the Artpace courtyard July 15 to September 10, 2011. The oversized work was wheat-pasted onto the exterior of the building as part of Artpace’s collaboration with the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center’s (GCAC) By Permit Only exhibition, which empowered its participants to take the unauthorized postering methods of street artists inside the gallery. In addition to Velliquette, Joshua Bienko (WW 11.1), Devon Dikeou (IAIR 11.1), Beto Gonzales (HSR 05.6), Ethel Shipton (WW 06.3), and Anne Wallace (IAIR 04.3) were Artpace alumni among the 11 featured artists in By Permit Only, which was on view at GCAC at 723 S. Brazos Street in San Antonio, Texas.
