I spent Saturday, July 21 at Guerra Public Library, sharing the work and process of Alex De Leon with artists aged from grandkids through abuelas, linguistically moving from English to Spanish, pre-school to elder. It was beautiful to see mixed generations work together to create contemporary art based on an Artpace exhibition New Works Now, the Hudson (Show)Room that features the work of five former resident artists, including de Leon. A father and his kids did mask drawings on carbon paper that were transferred as a series on paper then colored with oil pastels. The children (pictured here) were very proud of their work and so was I.
